WIMBLEDON MUSEUM …
The Museum is one level below the Wimbledon Shop near Gate:4 inside the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. On descended the stairs, entered into a vast area that houses the Championship Trophies, an unsurpassed collection of tennis memorabilia dating back to 1555, et al.
It is the largest tennis museum in the world. Inaugurated in 1977 at The Championships centenary event. On the 12th of April 2006, H.R.H. the Duke of Kent declared the brand new Museum open to the public.
Experienced the history and traditions of The Championships. Treasures from the first Championship to the most recent are on display, including equipment, fabrics of tennis fashions from the Victorian period, mementos, and souvenirs belonging to the greatest players who set foot on Centre Court.
Thrilling is interactive galleries. A journey through the history of The Championships, the science behind its grass, special moments in its history, experienced the atmosphere of Centre Court thru a viewing platform called CentreCourt360, a “ghost” of John McEnroe which spoke about the game and his well-known opponents in the very dressing room he once used, flicked through the pages of Arthur Ashes' diary and witnessed the power of Martina Navratilova.
With the original Trophies that’s being presented to both the Ladies & Gentlemen Singles Champions ..
