MEJI SHRINE (明治神宮).
Located in a lush green forest, a peaceful oasis in the middle of Tokyo City, that covers an area of 170 acres which consists of 120,000 trees of 365 different species, Meiji Shrine is dedicated to Emperor Meiji & Empress Shoken, who led Japan to become a modernized nation. But does not contain the emperor's grave.
This Shinto Shrine is not just a significant Japanese landmark, but a beautiful site full of traditional art and culture.
Built in the Japanese architectural style of simple wooden construction, the Treasure Museum houses articles of the Emperor & Empress.
The Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery houses a collection of large murals illustrative of the events in the lives of the Emperor & Empress.
