JAPAN

An Earthquake-Prone island Nation located in the Pacific Ocean.

An archipelago consisting of over 14000 islands, with four main islands forming the core of the nation. With mountains covering most of its land.

A nation renowned for its technological leadership, large economy, and blended ancient-modern culture, balancing its unique traditions with significant contributions to global technology, electronics & robotics.  It is a developed country with high life expectancy and a low-crime environment.  And has the world's highest proportion of elderly citizens.

Japan has the world's highest density of vending machines, with millions scattered across the country, selling a wide variety of items beyond just drinks and snacks.

Proper manners and etiquette are strictly adhered.  Consideration towards the people around you is highly valued in Japan, and most people will make efforts not to inconvenience others. Irrespective of ages, they bow to every person they encounter.  Even the deers have learnt this etiquette in Japan.  In Nara, the deers bow their heads before taking food from you.  An incredible gesture.

Japanese trains, particularly the bullet trains, are renowned for their incredible punctuality, so much so that train staff will sometimes apologize for delays of mere seconds and also compensate.

JAPAN TRIP (28)

TOKYO . 4-1-2025 . SATURDAY

By train from Shinagawa Station to Shinjuku Station.

From there by bus to Mount Fuji.  Left at 6am.
On the way to  Mount Fuji …

Arrived Mt. Fuji 5th Station at 8:45 am.

MOUNT FUJI … "Fuji-san"

A Spiritual Site, Cultural Icon and Geographical Wonder.

The tallest mountain of Japan and one of Japan’s Three Holy Mountains.

Located near Tokyo on Honshu island, standing at 12,388 ft, it’s an active volcano with an exceptionally symmetrical graceful conical form that is covered in snow.

It is considered a sacred symbol of Japan and has been a site for pilgrimage and artistic inspiration for centuries. Climbing Mount Fuji has been a religious practice.

The mountain is surrounded by five lakes (Fuji Five Lakes), including Lake Kawaguchi, which offer beautiful reflections of Fuji-san.

Last erupting in 1707, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a popular tourist attraction, drawing many hikers during the summer climbing season.

Over the centuries, the Japanese have forged a spiritual bond with the mountain. Their long-standing tradition of mountain worship has ensured this mountain remains revered and respected as a site of spiritual importance.

The numerous shrines at the base of the mountain are a testament to Mt. Fuji's spiritual and historical significance.

Artists depict the mountain from various vantage points and settings, giving people from around the world a glimpse into the region and its ways of life.

A Website describes …

“Formed approximately 100,000 years ago, repeated volcanic eruptions gradually transformed Mt. Fuji into the largest mountain in Japan, at 3,776 meters tall. The last eruption in 1707 lasted for 16 days, with volcanic ash reaching as far as Tokyo. Volcanic activity is also responsible for creating Hoeizan (one of Fuji's secondary peaks), the five lakes at the mountain's base, and numerous caves near Aokigahara Forest. The area is also blessed with many mineral-rich hot springs, making the region a paradise for both outdoor recreation and relaxation.”

Our poses ..
The stream from Mount Fuji.
Water considered as Holy Water.

The water is naturally filtered and purified as it passes over and through these geological formations, picking up minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium, as well as traces of vanadium and zinc—all which support everyday health requirements

The water flowing from the dragon mouth is seen as a gift of pure water from the sacred mountain. People drink water from dragon-mouth-shaped fountains. Some believe drinking the water can enhance longevity.  The area is considered a "power spot," a place where people can feel a mystical atmosphere and connect with the natural and spiritual energies of Mount Fuji.
