Alpine Majesty to Bavarian Charm:

An EC 191 Journey from Zurich to Munich

October 11th, 2025 a crisp autumn day that promised adventure.

Embarking the efficient and scenic Eurocity 191 train, for journey from the elegant city of Zurich to the vibrant heart of Bavaria, Munich.

A journey that combines breathtaking landscapes with charming European towns.

Setting Off from Zurich

A special kind of excitement bubbled up when we’re about to embark on a train journey from a major European hub. Zurich Hauptbahnhof, with its grand architecture and bustling atmosphere, was the perfect starting point.

The EuroCity 191, a sleek silver serpent, started to whisk us across borders and through some of the continent's most picturesque scenery.

A Lakeside Lullaby: Bregenz

Our first significant halt was Bregenz, nestled on the eastern shores of Lake Constance. Even from the train window, the allure was undeniable. Imagine the calm, reflective waters, perhaps dotted with sailboats, all framed by the distant peaks.  It's a place where Austrian charm meets natural beauty in the most delightful way.

Bavarian Interlude: Memmingen

As we continued our journey, the landscape gradually shifted, hinting at the Bavarian heartland we were approaching. Memmingen, our next stop, offered a glimpse into a more traditional German town. Known for its well-preserved old town and historical buildings, it felt like stepping back in time, even if just for a few moments as the train paused. You could almost smell the freshly baked pretzels and hear the distant chime of church bells.

Arrival in Munich: A Grand Welcome

As the EC 191 pulled into Munich Hauptbahnhof, the energy was palpable. The efficient German railway system had delivered us seamlessly from the alpine foothills to the bustling Bavarian capital.

This journey on the EC 191 wasn't just about getting from point A to point B; it was an experience in itself. It was a chance to witness the stunning transition of landscapes, from Swiss precision to Austrian serenity, and finally, to Bavarian heartiness.

Stepping out of the station, the city immediately embraced us with its unique blend of historical grandeur and modern vibrancy.  From the iconic Marienplatz to the lively beer gardens, Munich promises an unforgettable experience.
